The Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering was established in 1979, was founded by Late Sri R Dayananda Sagar, and is run by the Mahatma Gandhi Vidya Peetha Trust (MGVP). It started with the basic courses in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronics Engineering. The college offers undergraduate, Post-graduates, and doctoral programmes under Visvesvaraya Technological University.

MGVP Trust is an educational trust and was promoted by Late Shri. R. Dayananda Sagar in 1960. The Trust manages 28 educational institutions in the name of “DAYANANDA SAGAR INSTITUTIONS” (DSI) and multi – Specialty hospitals in SAGAR HOSPITALS – Bangalore, India.

Eligibility

M.Sc. Engineering/Ph.D.

  • For Ph.D. The criteria for admission are through synopsis selection, ULRAT Test, and an interview conducted by VTU for affiliated research centers.
  • Master’s Degree of any recognized University or any other equivalent qualification.
  • All eligible applicants will be called for a written entrance test which has to be cleared to attend an interview. The admissions will be based on performance in the interview.
  • For M.Sc. Engg. Bachelor’s degree in the respective field is required, the rest of the procedure is the same as that for Ph.D.

Students should follow the prescribed dress code by DSCE while in the campus and also have to wear ID card issued by the College.

Unsocial activities like ragging in any form shall not be permitted within or outside the precincts of the institution and the students found indulging in them shall be dealt with severely and dismissed from the institution.

The following additional acts of omission and /or commission by the students within or outside the precincts of the college shall constitute gross violation of code of conduct which is punishable.

  • Lack of courtesy and decorum, as well as indecent behaviour.
    • Wilful damage of property of the Institution/Hostel or fellow students.
    • Possession, consumption or distribution of alcoholic drinks or any kind of hallucinogenic drugs, smoking.
    • Mutilation or unauthorized possession of library material, like books.
    • Hacking in computer systems (such as entering into other persons’ area without prior permission, manipulation and/or damage of computer hardware and software or any other Cyber-crime etc.).
    • Use of Mobile in the college Academic area.
    • Unauthorized fund raising and promoting sales.
    • Any other considered by the college as of gross indiscipline.

Examination Section

The Controller of Examinations (COE) is assisted by the Deputy Controller of Examination and other staff for conducting the examinations and publishing the results in time. The Examination Section is mainly responsible for the Conduct of various examinations, valuation of answer scripts and publication of results and Certificates. The office of the COE is sensitized to the demands of the students, and holds their welfare in top priority. In the interest of the smooth running of all the processes of the COE office, which are vital to the proper functioning of the institute, a manual “Academic Rules and Regulations” has been compiled in which all the rules, regulations and procedures have been exhaustively laid out. This manual will serve as a useful ready- reckoner and help to clear doubts that may arise. The Examination Section is aware of the need for reforms in traditional examination and assessment system and is continuously striving towards evolving a credible, valid, effective and transparent evaluation system that addresses the challenges and newer demands of the outside world.

We are continuously evolving by adopting technology to facilitate an easy interface for the exchange of information to all stakeholders.

  • The examination process is automated and comprises setting Question Paper, a Digital depository of answer scripts, and Digital Evaluation to minimize time and make the entire process error-free and efficient.
  • Regularly Orientation sessions are conducted to the faculty members on examination rules and regulations.
  • The rules and regulations governing the academic and assessment evaluation process will be disseminated to the students during the induction program every year.
  • Strengthening the system to ensure that students have greater accessibility to processes that allow timely resolution of their problems.
  • To ensure the validity and stability of the examination system and work with the affiliating university.
  • Devise and monitor strategies and implementation of useful examination practices at the institute and continuously strive to bring about reforms as and when required in the examination system.
