BTech Mechanical Engineering

BTech Mechanical Engineering (ME) is a four-year undergraduate engineering degree course offered by the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. This course aims to prepare students to apply the laws and principles of science and mathematics to analyze, maintain and design and manufacture mechanical systems. The program offers subjects such as Kinematics & Dynamics of Machinery, Thermodynamics, Material Science and Metallurgy, Mechanical Design, Computer-Aided Design & Manufacturing, Fluid Mechanics & Machineries, Finite Element Method, Heat Transfer, etc. along with a great choice of program electives to strengthen the Mechanical Engineering Knowledge of the students. The labs with high-end software and advanced machinery keep students in sync with technological advances and prepare them for lifelong learning.

Civil Engineering

The graduates of Civil Engineering degrees play a vital role in fulfilling societal infrastructural needs and demands. India being a developing country and one of the fastest-growing economies has created wide scope for civil engineers. The Civil Engineering degree course at MIT Manipal focuses on planning and designing of industrial and residential buildings, hydraulic structures, water supply and sanitation systems, and transportation infrastructure. After the successful completion of the course, graduates have wide opportunities to work in private and public sectors and industries (L & T, GMR, HCC, etc.). Graduates also have the scope for pursuing higher studies and research.

Information Technology

B. Tech. in Information Technology aims at providing a strong foundation for students aspiring for a career in the field of the software industry and IT-enabled service industry. The curriculum is designed to provide flexibility for students to opt for minor specialization offered by the department and online courses by reputed international universities

Chemical Engineering – Overview

Biomedical Engineering

Minor Specializations

The BTech program in Biomedical Engineering offers minor specializations in

  • Biomaterials
  • Signal & Image Processing
  • Material Science
  • Business Management
  • Computational Mathematics

The Bachelor of Technology Biomedical program at MIT has the following benefits.

  • Several new courses and laboratories have been introduced over the past 5 years to pull the program close to international standards. Examples include the introduction of new courses such as Object-Oriented Programming, Microcontrollers, Embedded Systems, Tissue Engineering, and Signal and Image Processing Laboratory in MATLAB.
  • A separate laboratory facility has been for research and development.
  • Well-equipped laboratories: Instrumentation lab, Electronics lab, Computing Lab, Research lab (which includes the Physiological Signal Acquisition Lab, and Biomaterials and cell culture lab).
  • The core subjects have practical sessions so that students can have hands-on experience.
  • Industrial training is a part of the curriculum.
  • The final semester project is a major opportunity for the student to utilize the subject knowledge accumulated during the course, learn to work independently, involve in R&D activity, and innovate.

Some of the major companies that have hired students from the department include Baxter, Siemens Helathineers, Medtronic, Infosys, Cerner Healthcare, Wipro Biomed, GE Healthcare, Accenture, Deloitte, Teach nook, Boston Consulting, Verzeo, Lead Squared
