Course Offered

Civil Engineering

The department was started in the year 1979 with an intake of 90. Currently, the department has an intake of 180 for the undergraduate program. The students on a roll are 700+ including all the semesters.

Post graduate program in structural engineering started in the year 2003 with an intake of 18. The research center established in the year 2004 and recognized by VTU offers M.Sc. Engineering by research and Ph.D. Programs.

The department has associations with several acclaimed professional bodies like ACCE, ICI, ACHMM, IGBC, and INSTRUCT. The department has entered into MOU with more than 15 leading industries, consulting, and professional organizations to help the student internship programs and placements.

Many of our students have also excelled in extracurricular activities and awarded many prizes and recognitions at both college and inter colleges events. Most of our students have been placed in Government/ non-government esteemed organizations.

Mechanical Engineering

Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 1979 with an intake of 70 students and Department has grown strong over the last 32 years with the intake rising to 180 to train and develop Mechanical Engineering Professionals, who will serve for the betterment of society. The Department was affiliated with Bangalore University for a period of 18 years starting from the year 1979 and then the affiliation changed to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) in the year 1997. The Department also offers two PG programs M. Tech in Machine Design (MMD) with an intake of 18, and Manufacturing Science & Engineering (MSE) with an intake of 24.

The Department also offers a research program that includes MSc in Engineering by research and a Ph.D. degree from VTU and at present 35 researchers are pursuing a Ph.D. The Department has a team of well-qualified and experienced staff of 36 faculties of which 17 are Ph.D. holders and another 19 faculties are carrying out research in various topics of Mechanical Engineering, with an average teaching experience of more than 15 years. The Department is engaged in sponsored research, consultancy, testing, and characterization majorly in the areas of advanced materials development, processing, and design. The Department is committed to excelling in the field of teaching, learning, and research and providing the right echo system for nurturing the budding professional skills of students. The department also has the vision to offer high-quality Education, Employability, entrepreneurs, and inspiration for Higher Studies and Research.

Electrical & Electronics Engineering

Established in the year 1979, the department boasts well-equipped laboratories and well-qualified faculty. The department comprises VTU recognized R&D Centre, exclusive classrooms, a department library with 2417 volumes, and project laboratories. The department has endeavored in organizing regular field trips to various industries and power stations. Hence giving ample industrial exposure and thus integrating practical & theoretical knowledge into the curriculum. The Department is NBA accredited thrice.

The department has VTU recognized R&D Centre and 6 research scholars have registered for Ph.D. Five faculty members of our department have been awarded Ph.D. in diversified areas of EEE.

Electronics & Communication Engineering

Electronics and Communication Engineering department was established in the year 1979 with an intake of 40 students for the Bachelor of Engineering (BE) program which was affiliated with Bangalore University. Subsequently, the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of Bangalore Institute of Technology was affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum during the year 1998. Subsequently, the department added to its credit the PG Programs VLSI Design and Embedded systems in the year 2008-09, Digital Electronics and Communication in the year 2013-14 and VTU recognized research Program in the year 2012-13.

Currently, the department is offering Under Graduate programs Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication Engineering with an intake of 180 students, Post Graduate programs namely Master of Technology (M.Tech) in VLSI Design and Embedded systems with an intake of 18 students, Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Digital Electronics and Communication with an intake of 24 students and also offers Research Program under VTU, BIT ECE Research center.

Computer Science & Engineering

Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering

The Department of Instrumentation Technology was started in the year 1981-82. Now the department has been renamed as Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering bearing 60 intakes. We have a research center recognized by VTU.

The main objective of the department is to fulfill the requirement in frontier technology of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering in the area of Manufacturing, Instrumentation, Process Control, Embedded Systems, Signal Processing, and Industrial Automation. The faculty members have published their research papers in international and

national journals and conferences. The department has been continuously imparting standard and quality service to the students for the past 40 years. The department produced 37 batches of undergraduates so far of which 17 batches were under Bangalore University and 20 batches under Visvesvaraya Technological University. The department has been inculcating moral values in addition to curricular and co-curricular activities. The Research and Development Centre was started in the academic year 2010-2011 to guide and assist research scholars.

Industrial Engineering & Management

The Department of Industrial Engineering and Management was established in the year 1986. The department was previously known as Industrial Production Engineering and was renamed Industrial Engineering and Management in the year 1992. The department was under Bangalore University between 1986 and 1998 and is under VTU since 1998.

All the faculty have their master’s degrees with 5 having a Ph.D. degree and one faculty is pursuing one. The faculty is well experienced in academics and industries as well. The faculties are also associated with professional bodies like IE, IIIE, IVES, and ISTE.

The department offers Under-Graduate courses [B.E.] and Research [Ph.D.] under VTU. It has excellent infrastructure facilities with laboratories such as Metrology and Measurements Laboratory, Simulation Laboratory, Date Analytics Laboratory, Enterprise Resource Planning Laboratory, Work Study and Ergonomics Laboratory, and Quality Engineering Laboratory.

The Department of Industrial Engineering and Management frequently organizes Seminars, Workshops, Faculty Development Programs, and other interactive programs to keep the student community and faculties updated.

Telecommunication Engineering

Telecommunication Engineering Department was established in the year 1992 with an intake of 30. Subsequently, it was enhanced to 40 and currently, the intake is 60. Since 2019, the Department Nomenclature is changed to Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering [ETE]. A Research & Development Centre was established in 2012 to promote Research & Innovation interest among the Faculty & Students. The Department is accredited thrice by NBA, recently accredited in 2019 under NBA-Washington Accord.

The Department has a Student Association, TESA, to organize several Curricular & Co-curricular activities for the holistic development of the students. The Students of the Department are members of many Professional bodies and Student Clubs. Overall, the Department is an ideal place that strives for the holistic development of young Engineering aspirants.

Information Science & Engineering

Realizing well in time that the Information Technology (IT) wave has become a phenomenon in itself over the past few years, the institute established a separate department to cater to the ever-growing demand for professionals in this challenging field. The Department of Information Science and Engineering (ISE) came into existence in the year 2000. The program is affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Belagavi, Karnataka, approved by AICTE, New Delhi, and accredited by NBA.

The department is headed by Dr. H. Roopa and has a team of highly qualified and thoroughly experienced faculties to support all her coaching endeavors. There are a total of fifteen faculty members of which six are Ph.D. holders and another five faculties are carrying out research in various topics of IT. The department also supports and motivates the faculty to publish their research findings in Journals and Conferences. Faculties attend workshops and Faculty Development Programs to stay abreast with the leading-edge knowledge in the field of IT. It is presently offering a UG program B.E in Information Science and Engineering (ISE) with an intake of 120, a PG program M. Tech in Computer Network Engineering (CNE) with an intake of 24, and a Research Program to pursue a Ph.D. degree. The department seeks to combine excellence in education and research with service to society and industry.
