In 2008, the college had the highest number of gold medal winners among colleges affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University. The Department of Mechanical Engineering of RVCE is the state’s first-degree program in a private institution to be accredited by the National Board of Accreditation.

RVCE ranked as the top institute (No: 1) in the country among the self-financed engineering for Return on Investment (RoI) / Value for Money for students by Outlook in June 2013.
RVCE is also No. 1 in the area of sport under VTU in Karnataka among engineering colleges.
