SRM University Chennai Campus

The SRM University Chennai, also known as Sri Ramaswami Memorial University, is a deemed university privately owned in the state of Tamil Nadu. At first it was started as an engineering college in Kattankulathur, under the University of Madras in the year 1985, which had around 7 campuses.

The 4 campuses in Tamil Nadu are Kattankulathur, Vadapalani, Ramapuram, Tiruchchirappalli, and the other are in Sonepat, Gangtok & NCR. In the year 2003/2004, the college was renamed as SRM Institute of Science and Technology. Later in 2006, it became SRM University and became a full-fledged university under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956. This university is accredited by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC) along it is approved by the University Grants Commission.

The Kattankulathur Campus is located around 35km from Chennai city and has a campus situated on a 313-acre area beside the Grand Southern Trunk Road, NH 45. This campus consists of the College of Engineering and Technology, the College of Science and Humanities, the School of Management & College of Medicine and Health Sciences. The Vadapalani Campus is situated in Chennai city center and houses for Faculty of Management Sciences, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, the Faculty of MCA, & the Sivaji Ganesan Film Institute.

SRM University campuses are all very beautifully placed, and the state of architecture is also very good. All the departments in the campus are very well placed with the necessary equipment. The library plays an important role in the campus which has a huge collection of books and other things. The hostels are different for the boys and the girls with good hygienic food. The transport facility is also good for the staff as well as the students studying here.

Eligibility Criteria for Direct Admission in SRM University

a) Nationality and Age

Resident Indian or Non-Resident Indian (NRI), holder of PIO or OCI card issued by Government of India are eligible to apply for SRMJEEE (UG).
Note: NRIs, holders of PIO or OCI card issued by Government of India who has not taken the SRMJEEE (UG) must apply under International student category only.
Should have attained the age of 16 years and 6 months on the 31st July of the calendar year in which the 12th Board examination is to be held.

b) Qualifying Examination

All B.Tech programmes: Minimum 60% aggregate in Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry /Biotechnology/ Biology/ Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Informatics Practices/ Engineering Graphics.

Passed in Higher secondary examination (10+2 pattern) or appearing in Higher Secondary examination in the current academic year with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with any one of the subjects, Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Informatics Practices/ Engineering Graphics as major subjects in regular stream from any state board within India, CBSE, ISCE, Matriculation, or NIOS

c) SRMJEEE (UG)

Candidates who have attempted Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English & Aptitude in SRMJEEE (UG) are eligible for all the B.Tech Degree Programs
