RVCE has been recognized as a center for excellence by the Union Government of India. In 2008, the college had the highest number of gold medal winners among colleges affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University. The Department of Mechanical Engineering of RVCE is the state’s first-degree program in a private institution to be accredited by the National Board of Accreditation.

RVCE ranked as the top institute (No: 1) in the country among the self-financed engineering for Return on Investment (RoI) / Value for Money for students by Outlook in June 2013.

RVCE’s ranking according to the survey of ‘The Week’ magazine – June 2015: 9th among top 99 Pvt. ENGG. Colleges in the country, 40th among the top 100 Engineering colleges in the country, and 5th among the top 72 Pvt. Engineering colleges.
