About

Renowned industrialist and philanthropist Dr Karsanbhai K Patel, the founder of the Nirma Group of Industries, established the Nirma Education and Research Foundation (NERF) in the year 1994 with a vision to promote higher education and provide excellent educational facilities to the youth in India. In 1995, Nirma Institute of Technology – affiliated to Gujarat University – was established by the NERF. It was followed by the establishment of the Nirma Institute of Management in 1996.

In the year 2003, the Government of Gujarat approved the proposal for the NERF to be founded. Hence, this institute was established under a special Act passed by the Gujarat State Legislative Assembly. The University Grants Commission (UGC) duly recognized the University under Section 2 (f) of the UGC Act.

The NERF is equally committed to school education. It strongly believes in the fact that a strong foundation is a prerequisite for education. With this philosophy, it runs two schools ‘Nirma Vidyavihar’ at Bodakdev and Chharodi in Ahmedabad, where the emphasis is laid on to provide value-based education clubbed up with innovative educational practices.

‘Outlook-ICARE India University Rankings 2019’ ranks Nirma University at fourth position among the Top 50 private state universities of India. This ranks as the best private university at the state level.
India Today ranks Nirma University amongst the ‘Top 10 private multi-disciplinary universities’ in India in its July 2019 issue.
In the ranking conducted by ‘The Week – Hansa Research Survey 2019,’ It is ranked among the top 15 universities in the non-government (private and deemed) multi-disciplinary universities category. It is heartening to note that the University has jumped 13 places higher as compared to 2018.
The University has been ranked “5 A” in the ‘Private and Deemed-to-be Universities of India 2019 Ranking’ conducted by Digital Learning, Asia’s premier magazine on education. “5 A” is the highest score on a 7-point scale and is categorized as “exceptional”. The ranking parameters, include Faculty, Entrepreneurship, Industry Interface, Global Collaboration, Placements, and Swachh Campus.

It provides full placement support to its students in the fields of Technology, Management, Law, Pharmacy, and Life Sciences.
