Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology (TIET) or Thapar University (deemed-to-be) offers UG, PG, and doctorate programs under multiple streams, such as Engineering, Science, Technology, and more. These programs are offered in seven schools, 10 departments, and over nine centers. Thapar University’s admission process is both merit and entrance-based, depending on the course. Candidates must have class 12 and a valid JEE Main score to get admission. Apart from JEE Main, it also accepts other national-level entrance exams for admission to MBA, ME/ MTech courses.

Mode 1 – BTech Admission based on JEE Main

• Student must pass 10+2 or equivalent exam with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Mathematics, and any one subject out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, and Technical Vocational subject*.
• Student must have appeared in JEE Main 2024
• Student must possess a good moral character
• Students must be a citizen of India.
• Student must pass 10+2 exam in 2022, 2023 or appearing in 2024

Mode 2 – BTech Admission based on 10+2 marks in PCM

• BTech Admission in Thapar University. Candidate must pass 10+2 or equivalent exam with at least 70% marks (65% for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Mathematics, and any one subject out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, and Technical Vocational subject*
• Candidate must have appeared in JEE Main 2024
• Candidate possess a good moral character
• Students must be a citizen of India.
• Student must pass 10+2 exam in 2022, 2023 or appearing in 2024

In the final round of counselling, the remaining seat will be filled through Mode 2 shall be filled through Mode 1, and vice versa.
