What is PGDM?

Today, most of the students are getting confused about going for a PG. Still, they are in the dilemma of whether MBA or PGDM is better to grow in a career. There is a difference between PGDM and MBA. But, there are lots of benefits with PGDM.
PGDM is that when an institute is an autonomous body (meaning it is not affiliated to any University) and conducts management courses then such Institutes cannot offer MBA degrees. Even IIMs, XLRI don’t offer MBA degrees they only give PGP Diploma or PGDM since they are autonomous and independent bodies. On similar lines, AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) is allowing approved colleges to run a PGDM course.
Some Business Schools offering this AICTE PGDM course need not be autonomous, the PGDM course will be autonomous given by the Institute & directly approved by AICTE, the Ministry of HRD, and Govt of India.
Just like how the UGC – University Grants Commission controls the Universities in India, AICTE – All India Council for Technical Education has control on both technical and management courses especially colleges not under Universities. Even colleges offering UGC-recognized MBA Programmes in most cases should have AICTE approval.

Step by Step MICA Ahmedabad Admission Process

Step 1: Register and Appear in CAT/XAT/GMAT

Apply online for admission to MICA and update your score options in the online application form that you would like to submit (CAT/XAT/GMAT).

After receiving your CAT score, XAT Registration No. or GMAT score, update the details on Mthe ICA website
In case of XAT exam, the applicant needs to mention the XAT Registration number only and MICA will collect the score from XLRI.

Step 2: Apply & Appear in MICAT

All candidates will be assessed on MICAT conducted by MICA
50% weightage is awarded to MICAT score in the shortlisting criteria
for admission to MICA

Step 3: Shortlist

All the candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their performance in CAT/XAT/GMAT & MICAT
The shortlisted candidates shall appear for both Group Exercise (GE) & Personal Interview (PI)

Step 4: Final Selection

All the candidates who appear in GE & PI in the final selection round at MICA and are considered for the final merit list must be recommended by the majority of the panelists of PI Round
Final Admission Offer will be made to the candidates in the last week of April/First week of May on the basis of Final Merit Score

Eligibility and selection criteria for FPM

The aspirants should have cleared their 10+2+3 graduation degree from a recognized university AIU in any discipline.
Applicants who are in the last year of their bachelor’s degree can also go through this program.
The students who have better experience in expressing, and influencing people tend to stand a better chance of being shortlisted.
The students have chosen 1 program and if they choose both have to mark the 1^st priority from PGDM and PGDM-C.
Each candidate should have appeared for the exams XAT, CAT, GMAT, and CMAT (2020 onwards).

FPM (Fellow Program in Management)

The program duration is 2 years with 5 terms and The FPM offers specializations in Management, Communication, Marketing, Media and Entertainment, and Digital Marketing.
