It is ranked 20th among the top 100 engineering colleges in India. Hence, the Ministry of Education has labeled it a Deemed To Be University. Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must have cleared Class 12 or an equivalent exam from a recognized board.
The candidate must have secured at least 60 percent marks in aggregate of any three subjects (subject varies according to the UG course) in their 10+2 or an equivalent exam.
The candidate must possess a good moral character.
The candidate must be a citizen of India.
A relaxation of 5% is given to the candidates belonging to SC/ST categories in Class 12 scores.
Candidates completing a 3-year Diploma after Class 10 can also apply.
The candidate must have secured a minimum of 60% in aggregate of any three subjects (one of the three subjects must be English).

Admission

Basic Criteria in Thapar University via Direct Admission. Thapar University Admission is done based on the entrance exam and merit.
Admission to B. Tech. programs will be done based on the candidate’s JEE Main 2023 scores.
Admission to other UG programs such as BA, BBA, and B.Sc., is done based on an entrance exam.
Admission to PG courses such as MBA, MTech., and PhD is done based on GATE, NET, GPAT, CMAT, and NMAT scores.
Candidates for MA, MSc, and MCA are selected based on merit.

B.E. Courses

Basic Criteria in Thapar University via Direct Admission. Thapar University offers admission to BTech/B.E. programs through two modes based on JEE Main scores and Merit in 10+2 (PCM). Basic Criteria in Thapar University via Direct Admission. The university offers admission to many PG courses, including ME/MTech in various specializations. Admission to the Thapar M Tech is based on valid GATE scores. The final merit list is will be prepared based on the GATE scores of the eligible candidates. Moreover, the Thapar University admission criteria state that an applicant shall hold a BTech degree and must have passed their qualifying Bachelor’s Degree exam with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks.
