History

CHRIST (Deemed to be University) was born out of the educational vision of St Kuriakose Elias Chavara (1805-1871), an educationalist and a social reformer of nineteenth-century South India. In his childhood, Kuriakose attended the village school where he studied language and elementary sciences. CHRIST (Deemed to be University) was established as ‘Christ College’ in 1969. The multi-disciplinary University which focuses on teaching, research, and service offers Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral programs in humanities, social sciences, sciences, commerce, management, engineering, architecture, education, and law to about 30000 students. Campus Environment

CHRIST (Deemed to be University) is proud of its eco-friendly, serene & peaceful environment and deeply committed to upholding the values system, it expects its students to conduct themselves worthily in their dress, demeanor, and sense of discipline.

Students are expected to make use of the library during free periods. Movement of the students in the corridors of the university buildings during lecture hours or sitting on the steps of the staircase or the steps of the portico of the university is not permitted.

Students should maintain a sense of decorum and discipline at all times both inside and outside the university. Those who are guilty of serious misconduct or whose presence in the university is detrimental to the order and discipline on the campus are liable to be expelled.

Boys are expected to be in full pants and clean shirts. Low-waisted pants with several large pockets are not allowed.

Girls are expected to dress decently. Out of respect for Indian traditions, students should avoid wearing, tight, transparent, sleeveless, or revealing clothes and should dress appropriately.
